Native Foods Cafe is one of my favorite spots. Native Foods is one of those sneaky vegan restaurants where I feel like I’m cheating and eating real cheese and meat, even sometimes guilty. Despite my mental-ness, everything on their menu is absolutely vegan, so there’s no guessing game involved and everything I’ve ever eaten tastes great! My absolute favorite dish is the vegan Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger! It comes with a side of ranch (yes vegan), fried pickles (my favorite things!), a heaping pile of their house-made seitan, cheese (also vegan and house made from scratch!), and tofu bacon!
Its nice and casual, a style where you order and then they bring it to you, so its quick and easy! From outside and the menu I wouldn’t have guessed it was entirely vegan, it just looks like another fast food option! Yes, I was one of those vegans who had to double check at the counter Wait so is this vegan? What about this? Wait, its definately at least vegetarian right? And they lovingly nodded their heads and gave suggestions. Everyone who works there has always been super kind and helpful as well! You feel very well taken care of, even though its more fast foody than other vegan spots.
There are a few locations around the US, in Chicago, multiple places in California, Portland, and Boulder! My favorite dishes are the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger, the chili cheese fries, and the chicken ranch burger (yeah yeah I know they’re not the healthiest options, but they do have really healthy options too!)! They even have house-made drinks one of which is lavender lemonade, (which is another one of my favorite things in the world…I’m lavender obsessed). Native Foods makes everything from scratch from their seitan to their cheeses, so everything is unique and great! They even have events fairly often with vegan cooking demos, which you should definitely check out if you’re in the area!
UPDATE: Jeff here, I went again and had their Scorpion Burger which was, as I assumed, AMAZING! This burger has blackened tempeh, chipotle sauce, avocado, and veggies. I really liked this one as it isn’t as heavy as the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger. They are both amazing and everything I’ve had there is so just go try a bunch of different things! Oh and I added their house made vegan cheese which is so good.
Go, visit Native Foods, fill your tummy with vegan-y love, and support others who care as much as you do!
