Boulder has a lot of my favorite restaurants (check out my review of Native Foods!) and Leaf, happens to be one of those vegan Boulder hotspots. Their food is fresh and some of it comes from their own farm! They aren’t purely vegan, but most vegetarian options can be made vegan. They are completely vegetarian however. Leaf is one of those restaurants that you leave (ha no pun intended) on a great feeling refreshed note! Its dishes are refined, seasonal, delicate, and full of flavor.
I ordered the vegan crab cake sandwich with a side of their soup of the day! It consisted of a seasoned tempeh with vegan caper tarter sauce on a baguette and it was incredible! When I ate meat (almost 7 years ago!) I was never interested in fish, but now that I’m a vegan sometimes I crave it! Who would’ve guessed! But this hit the spot! It has a light flavor and a great texture and I want one now just thinking about it!
Jeff ordered the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh and it was tempeh with black rice, a little spicy, with a coconut plantain sauce. It was bold and full of flavor, but didn’t leave you feeling overwhelmed at the end. It was delicious!
Be sure to check out Leaf’s menu to see what farm fresh ingredients they’ll be featuring when you make your trip! Leaf is fantastic so make sure you go visit them and give them your full bodied vegan bear hug. Show them some veggie love you snobs you.
